    The way I played this, the bulldogs had to actually lift the person off the ground and shout "Brittish Bulldog!" for the tag to count. We played it over grass. Also, I'm Brazilian, so we didn't really pronounce it "Brittish Bulldog": it just became "Blitz Bulldog", which is also a good name. To be honest, I don't remember if I ever really played it, or if have just watched my more bloodbath-inclined colleagues play it, but still.

    For Level 1, I have the kids who have been tagged move around the edges of the game area trying to tag people who get too close instead of having them sit out. It helps keep my kids more engaged and keeps the kids who are still untagged wary of the edges.

    I used scooters and placed all different sorts of differently shaped equipment in the middle along with beanbags and tennis balls: pool noodles, bowling pins, footballs, balloons, beach balls, cones, etc. For the the first round, I let teams just pick up whatever they wanted but could only take one item at a time. At the end of that round, I assigned point values to the different objects and teams had to add them up. The second round I added new objects, let students pick up 2 at a time, but did not tell them the value of the new objects until after the round was over. For the third and final round, I let students grab as much as they could hold in their hands and made everything 1 point. 1st-5th graders loved it!

    Your channel and website have been a real lifesaver-thank you! I'm eager to try out this game, but I have a couple of questions to clarify: Firstly, my classes are quite large, around 60-70 students. Do you think some might not be as engaged since there might not be enough opportunities for everyone to retrieve a ball? Secondly, managing the groups waiting to kick seems a bit tricky, especially since they're not actively involved. How did this aspect go in your lesson? Thanks in advance for your insights!

    • @physedgames
      @physedgames Місяць тому

      It might be a bit large of a group but worth giving it a try to see how it goes, you could be surprised! My kickers all seemed good waiting, they’d line up at the line as if they were about to run a 100m dash. And always switching the kickers up each new inning worked well, I think having 2 kickers (or try 3) at the same time also helps the reluctant students who don’t like the spotlight or pressure

      @@physedgames Thank you! I gave it a try last week. With my large group, the game play improved with each new inning. Ultimately, I determined that this game would work best with upper grades and smaller class sizes.

    Love playing this game with the kiddos! I've added a few colors to the game to make it more difficult for the older ones... Green Light = RUN Red Light = STOP Yellow Light = SLOW-MO *Blue Light = Moonwalk (walking backwards while sliding your feet) **Pink Light = Pirouette (jump up on one leg and hoist your arms up elegantly, or skip for the littles) ***Orange Light = Karaoke Step Over (sideways steps where one leg goes in front of the other and then behind the other in sequence, or sideways shuffle for the littles) Introduce the new lights once per stage. *Stage 2 **Stage 3 ***Stage 4 For Stage 5, I warn the kids that I will stop saying the word light for faster changes of lights.

    What if you are playing outside and at the start of the game kids throw the ball and they go out of bounds? I was thinking about making a rule where you can leave to get a ball at the start of the game until a few people have gotten out then I blow my whistle and yell boundaries up! I played the other day and it was slow at the start because the ball kept going out and I went to get them or a kids did and that was breaking the rules but I allowed it so I did not have to chase them down and that confused kids. I'll try the boundaries up rule but any other thoughts?

    • @physedgames
      @physedgames Місяць тому

      Hmmm that’s a tough one. Never played it outside because of the fact the balls constantly go out of bounds, so having walls is important. But try that out and let me know how it goes!

    Back when I was in Year 8, we actually used to play a game similar to this one, except that each team of 4 have 1 mat and 1 bench. So when the game is on, we have to get on the bench and move them up in one direction and then we get off to the mat and move the bench to the other side and repeat this process till we get to the other side of the gym. Ugh, the nostalgia.
